My Great Grandfather Charles William Johnson, Born Feb 21, 1864 in Sweden,
settled in Kirk in Banner county--and in Potter in 1906-where he became
successful in the raising of livestock and in agriculture. He was the
postmaster in Potter, owned Johnson Mercantile in Potter. He was
elected to the Nebraska State Senate in 1924, 1926, 1928 and 1930. He
was a member of the Potter Masonic and Odd fellow lodges--and a member of
the Methodist Church. Note: My family and I just finished a very short
(first time) visit to Potter on July 31, Aug 1st of 2000. Unfortunately, our
photos of Johnson Grove, the original ranch areas and the cemetery plots for
the Johnson's did not develop. If anyone has any photos of those
particular areas or of "old" Potter, I would be happy to send
someone the cost of any copies/mailing of such--if at all possible. My
Great Grandparents on my Grandmothers side also immigrated to Potter.
They were the Olson's / Erickson's. It was wonderful to see the
original homes of my Grandparents still in tact there in Potter.
